Feeding a Family on $50 per week . . . can it be done?

Mindi over at Moms Need to Know has written a three part article about Feeding a Family on $50 per Week.

How much is your grocery budget each week?

Read on.

I’ve been asked several times how I can possibly feed a family of five on only $50 per week ($57, if you include my weekly diaper budget). If you are like most people and spending $150 per week for a family of 4 (although from talking to people, I think that amount may be low), the idea of cutting your bill by 66-75% may seem like a pipe dream.]

So how do I do it?

I can't wait to read you posts about feeding a family for $50 a week! I noticed something in the intro though and wanted to give another tip that might help other families on a budget. You included $7 a week for diapers, but using modern cloth diapers can cost you way less than disposable over the course of your child's diapering years! You can actually buy a set of Econobum diapers, which are prefolds and covers, 12 prefolds and 3 covers, enough for an entire day or more, for $49! You could realistically get enough diapers to last the entire diaper stage, for less than $100!!! For anyone interested, there are some great sites for cloth diapers.... cottonbabies.com, kellyscloset.com are 2 of the most popular!!!
